LONDON (CNI)--Shell Chemicals said Wednesday that Dutch logistics group Vopak is to build a loading gantry in Pernis, The Netherlands, which will be used to fill tankers with its hydrocarbon solvents.
The Anglo-Dutch group signed an agreement with Vopak today for the construction of the road tanker loading gantry, which will replace existing loading facilities. The project is expected to cost Euro6m ($5.3m).
Vopak Logistic Services Netherlands will build and operate the new gantry, which is expected to be completed in early 2003.
Shell said the gantry will be used to fill tankers with solvents such as pentane and hexane.
Roelf Venhuizen, director of Shell Nederland Chemie, said the new gantry facility will significantly improve cost efficiency.
