LONDON (CNI)--New technology licensed from Bayer MaterialScience will enable BASF to switch from batch processing to continuous processing at its slab-foam polyols manufacturing plants, a BASF spokesman confirmed on Tuesday.
The technology, which involves using a new catalyst, requires only minor modifications to existing plants, he said.
BASF is already a strong supplier of slab-foam polyols to North America, Europe and Asia, he added. He declined to reveal the capacity of BASF’s plants or say by how much production rate would be improved by using Bayer’s Impact technology.
The licensing agreement between the two German chemical groups was announced last Friday.
