AKZO Nobel Polymer Chemicals LLC has, as of September 1, implemented a price increase in Europe, the Middle East and Africa of €0.15 per kilogram for ketone peroxides and €0.35 per kilogram for DCP/CHP. On October 1, the company will increase the global pricing for trialkylaluminum and alkylaluminum chloride products by 15c. per pound.
ATOFINA organic peroxides business is implementing a general increase of 5 percent on October 1, with additional charges for some products: all INA/INCL products will be increased by €.50 to €.70 per kilogram; all benzoyl chloride-based products by €0.15 to €0.20 per kilogram; and Luperox 11M75 organic peroxide by €0.15 per kilogram.
BASF, as of October 1, is increasing the North America prices for some of its Plurasafe functional fluid products: Plurasafe WGF 200E will be increased by 4c. per pound, and Plurasafe WGF concentrates, WGF 46FG, P-730, P-800 and P-44 will be increased by 5c. per pound.
BAYER Chemicals AG has, as of September 1, increased the global prices of its m-cresol, m/p-cresol and o-cresol by 12 percent.
CROMPTON Corp. will increase North American prices for all metallic stearate fatty acid derivative products as of October 1. Fused calcium stearate and fused zinc stearate pastille will be increased by 6c. per pound. Fused zinc stearate powder, precipitated aluminum stearate, precipitated calcium stearate, precipitated zinc stearate and stearate dispersions will be increased by 12c. per pound. Fused sodium stearate and fused magnesium stearate will go up by 15c. per pound. Precipitated magnesium stearate, fused lithium stearate and fused potassium stearate will be increased by 25c. per pound. Also on October 1, Crompton will be implementing a price increase of 10 percent on butyl tin intermediates (TBT, DBTO, DBTCL, MBTCL) and of 20 percent on octyl tin intermediates (TOT, DOTO, MOTO, DOTCL, MOTCL).
CYTEC Industries Inc., as of September 1, has implemented a global price increase for its water treatment chemicals business. These increases will affect specific key product groups, including polyacrylamide, polyamine, resin amine, and DADMAC chemistries.
DOW Wire & Cable is, effective October 1, increasing the price of all wire and cable compounds and resins used for telecommunications applications by 8c. per pound. The company is also increasing the price for all wire and cable compounds and resins used for power applications and for Zetabon coated metals sold in North America by 5c. per pound.
GEO Specialty Chemicals will, as of October 1, increase the prices of certain dry defoamers by 10 percent, and liquid and dry naphthalene-based dispersants by 5 percent.
GLCC Laurel LLC has, effective September 1, increased the price for all grades of antimony trioxide by 25c. per pound in the Americas and by $550 per metric ton in Europe and the Asia Pacific region. As of September 15, GLCC will increase the global prices for its smoke suppressant and specialty flame retardants product lines: zinc borate, Ongard 2 and Oncor 75RA smoke suppressants will be increased by 10c. per pound, and Smokebloc smoke suppressants will be increased by 20c. to 30c. per pound.
GREAT LAKES Chemical Corp. is, as of September 15, increasing the global price of its Alkanox 240, Anox 20, and Anox PP-18 antioxidants by 10 percent. The price for Anox NDB (no dust blends) and other blends will also increase dependent upon main antioxidant content and value. As of October 1, the company’s BioLab Recreational Water division will raise prices on all products containing chlorinated isocyanurates by 10c. per pound. A price increase of up to 7 percent will go into effect on all other pool and spa chemicals as well.
HERCULES Inc.’s Aqualon division is increasing prices for its Natrosol hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC) and Natrosol Plus modified HEC by 10c. per pound, effective October 1.
HUNTSMAN Advanced Materials is, as of October 1, increasing the global pricing for all its Araldite PT powder.
RIPPLEWOOD Phosphorus US LLC is, effective October 1, increasing the off-list price of its Phosflex phosphate ester flame retardants by 10c. per pound.
ROHM AND HAAS Company has, as of September 1, increased the global price of its ion exchange resins, adsorbents and catalysts by 5 percent.
SASOL Olefins & Surfactants alkylates and surfactants business unit will increase prices of all linear alkylbenzene (LAB) products by 8c. per pound, effective October 1.
SOLUTIA Inc. has, as of September 1, begun applying a raw material surcharge for all of its Therminol heat transfer fluids worldwide. The surcharge is based upon the price of benzene, a key feedstock, and will vary depending on spot pricing for benzene per CMAI, and will apply as long as the average benzene spot price exceeds $1.50 per gallon. This surcharge will result in an average price increase of 8 percent to 12 percent across all grades of Therminol.
STEPAN Company will raise pricing for some surfactant products effective October 1: Alkyl benzene sulfonic acids (sold under the Bio-Soft trade name) will increase by 8c. per pound and derivatives of these products will increase accordingly. Low active alkyl sulfates and ether sulfates (Steol, Stepanol) will increase by 2c. per pound. High active 70 percent alkyl ether sulfates (Steol) and synthetic alcohol based alkoxylates (Bio-Soft) will increase by 4c. per pound. Dry sulfates (Stepanol) will increase by 7c. per pound. Dry sulfonates (Nacconol) will increase by 3c. to 6.5c. per pound. Hydrotropes (Stepanate) and betaines (Amphosol) will increase by 1c. per pound. Stepan will increase prices for surfactants used in the oilfield, emulsion polymers and foamers markets (Petrostep, Polystep, Cedepal) from 2c. to 4c. per pound based on activity. Phosphated nonyl-phenol ethoxylates and PEG esters will increase by 4c. to 7c. per pound. Nonyl phenol ethoxylates (Makon, Neutronyx) will increase by 6c. per pound. Blends will increase accordingly.
VELSICOL Chemical Corp. is implementing several price increases as of October 1. There will be a general price increase of 10 percent across the company’s broad range of Admex polymeric plasticizer products; a price increase of 15 percent for benzoic acid, benzyl alcohol and benzophenone; an increase of 10 percent for all monomerics; and an increase of 10c. per pound for benzoyl chloride.
VINAMUL Polymers is increasing the North American price of all its acrylic and vinyl acrylic emulsions by 5c. per wet pound, effective October 1.
