Valero Texas refinery shut down by fire

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Valero Energy’s 158,000 bbl/day McKee refinery in Sunray, Texas was shut on Friday after a fire broke out, the company reported.

The fire occurred shortly after 2 pm Houston time (20:00 GMT) and was still burning as of the late afternoon, according to news media reports. The refinery was evacuated, Valero said.

At least four injured employees were taken to hospitals in the Texas panhandle, according to news reports. No fatalities were reported, Valero said.
