TOKYO (ICIS news)--Japan’s ethylene output in March rose 20% compared with the year-ago period, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said on Wednesday.
The country produced 680,000 tonnes of ethylene, up from 566,500 tonnes in March 2006.
Ethylene production last month increased 7.2% from 634,100 tonnes in February, the ministry said.
One plant was shut for a turnaround in March, while three plants were undergoing turnarounds in the same period a year ago.
Meanwhile,
This was a 1.6% decrease from 211,200 tonnes month-on-month, the ministry said.
February imports of ethylene and ethylene derivatives were 26,500 tonnes, down 36.9% from 41,900 tonnes in February 2006.
This was a 9.2% decline from 29,200 tonnes in January, according to the ministry.
