TORONTO (ICIS news)--Dow Chemical plans to expand its divinylbenzene (DVB) plant in Michigan, the company said on Thursday.

Dow expects to complete the 1,350 tonne/year expansion in the fourth quarter of 2007.

It did not disclose the plant’s current capacity or how much it expects to invest in the expansion.

The expansion comes on the back of increasingly tight global DVB supplies.

DVB is a mixture of isomers of divinylbenzene and ethylvinylbenzene. It has end-use applications in ion exchange resins, adhesives, specialty plastics and elastomers.
