LONDON (ICIS news)--Celanese subsidiary Ticona plans to build a long fibre-reinforced thermoplastic (LFRT) facility in Nanjing, China, the company said on Monday.

When completed in early 2008, the company would have an annual LFRT capacity of over 35,000 tonnes, said Ticona, which produces LFRT in Kelstarbach, Germany, and Winona in the northern United States.

Celanese is currently developing a fully integrated acetyls complex at the Nanjing Industrial Park site consisting of a 600,000 tonne/year acetic acid facility, a 300,000 tonne/year vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) plant and a 100,000 tonne/year acetic anhydride unit.

In February it announced plans to build a 20,000 tonne/year GUR ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (PE) plant at the site.
