LONDON (ICIS news)--INEOS Polyolefins closed its May order book for new polypropylene (PP) copolymer sales on Friday, a company source reported.

PP was firm in Europe and higher prices were confirmed at some accounts already for May. Most business was still to be done, however.

Several suppliers reported a very tight stock position, particularly Basell who was still experiencing production problems at its Tarragona site in Spain. These were expected to last until 20 May and were due to the lack of propylene.

Homopolymer injection prices were fast approaching €1,200/tonne FD NWE this week, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing, largely covering the €30/tonne increase in Q2 propylene.
