LONDON (ICIS news)--INEOS Polyolefins’ high density polyethylene (HDPE) production at Rosignano, Italy, went down due to an electrical outage on Tuesday 19 June, a company source said on Thursday.
“All four lines are down. We plan to bring them back progressively over the weekend. We are assessing the impact on our ability to supply,” he said.
The site has a capacity to produce 220,000 tonnes/year of HDPE.
The company already had a tight HDPE inventory position as the smaller of its two
HDPE at INEOS’s Grangemouth 185,000 tonne/year plant was still being produced, but the company had earlier reported that only its core and contractual customers were being supplied.
The company also has HDPE production at Lavera and Sarralbe in
HDPE prices increased by as much as €30/tonne ($40/tonne) in June due to tight availability, reduced level of imported product and good demand.
HDPE blowmoulding was trading at €1,270-1,280/tonne FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe) on a gross basis in June.
