SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--The Asian contract price (ACP) for August paraxylene (PX) has been settled higher at $1,145/tonne CFR (cost and freight) Asia between a major Japanese end-user and a leading western producer, sources close to the negotiations said on Tuesday.

The price is $15/tonne higher than the July settlement of $1,130/tonne. Further details were unavailable.

Spot prices were largely unaffected by the settlement, hovering at $1,160-1,165/tonne CFR Taiwan and China, following prompt deals at the upper end of the range on Monday.
