MOSCOW (ICIS news)--Russia's Sibur Holding and Gazpromneft have formed a joint venture to process associated gas from the latter's Yuzhno-Priobsky deposit in Siberia, the companies said in a joint statement on Thursday.
The venture, Yuzhno-Priobsky Gas Processing Plant, aims at building new facilities to process 1bn cubic metres (bcm) a year of associated gas, the statement said, without disclosing more details.
Sibur and Gazpromneft, the oil subsidiary of gas giant Gazprom, would consider expanding joint gas processing capacities by 3 bcm/year eventually, the statement added.
In 2006 and earlier this year, petrochemical major Sibur agreed with oil companies TNK-BP and Rosneft on joint ventures to process associated gas in Siberia.
Sibur plans to raise its associated gas processing capacities up to 22bcm/year by 2011 in order to increase feedstock supplies to its petrochemical plants, according to the company.
