LONDON (ICIS news)--UK specialty chemicals distributor Surfachem Group has been acquired by a private equity firm for an undisclosed sum, the deal’s negotiator Livingstone Partners said in a statement on Tuesday.

The buyer, 2M Holdings, has been seeking to build a substantial presence in the sector, having already bought bulk and packaged chemicals distributor Banner Chemicals, Livingstone said.

“Following the acquisition of Albion Chemicals by Brenntag in 2006, Surfachem is one of the few remaining independents in the U.K. chemicals distribution market with an attractive portfolio of supply agreements”, said business services partner at Livingstone Jeremy Furniss.

Based in Leeds in the north of England, Surfachem has an annual turnover of around ₤33m ($67m/€48m).
