MUMBAI (ICIS news)--Indian refiner Chennai Petroleum Corp Limited (CPCL) is planning to shut its crude unit and some secondary units for maintenance, a company official said on Tuesday.

CPCL's 60,000 bbl/day crude unit will be shut down for about 25 days from the third week of November, local media reported.

A 1.2m tonne/year fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit and a 1.8m tonne/year hydrocracker will remain idle due to the shutdown of the crude distillation unit, the media said.

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) unit CPCL exports about three 30,000-tonne cargoes a month of fuel oil and one 30,000-35,000 tonne naphtha cargo.

During the outage, the company may not have any naphtha exports in December and one fewer fuel oil cargo, it said.

However, there would be no shortages of oil products in the region due to the shutdown, the Indian media reported.

The company declined to comment on the outage.
