SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Toray Plastics Malaysia (TPM), southeast Asia's largest acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) producer, plans to turn around two of its lines at end-October, a company source said on Wednesday.
The maintenance was expected to last for about three weeks and the two lines with a combined capacity of 110,000 tonnes/year would restart in mid-November, he added.
The company operates four ABS lines at Prai, Penang state, each with a capacity of 55,000 tonnes/year.
Toray will expand its Malaysian ABS output by 110,000 tonnes/year by end-March or April 2008. The new line will produce 70,000 tonnes/year of regular resins and 40,000 tonnes/year of transparent resins.
The company also operates a 60,000 tonne/year polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) unit in Kuantan, Pahang state, in a joint venture with BASF.
