LONDON (ICIS news)--Kuwait’s urea fertilizer producer Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) will shut its Bahrain plant for planned maintenance in November, a company source said on Wednesday.

The unit which has a urea capacity of around 550,000 tonnes/year will be brought down from the second week of November for 16-17 days.

PIC said that, as the shutdown was planned and would last for just over two weeks, customers would not be impacted.

The Bahrain ammonia unit, which has a capacity of around 400,000 tonnes, will also be down for the same period.

Ammonia is a feedstock for urea.

PIC has three urea plants with a total capacity of around 1.04m tonnes/year.

Other Middle East urea producers include Ruwais Fertilizer Industries (Fertil) and Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC).
