Toyo Gosei Chiba plant explodes, kills two

TOKYO (ICIS news)--Toyo Gosei’s plant producing photo sensitive material in Chiba prefecture exploded and killed two workers on Tuesday, the company said in a statement.

 

The plant in the town of Tonosho, Chiba prefecture, exploded at 10:20 am local time, causing the fire. Two workers were killed by the smoke from the fire, and six people were injured, the company said.

 

The fire was extinguished at 1 pm local time.

 

The explosion had occurred in the drying process of the material, the Japanese chemicals producer said.

 

It added further investigations by local authorities were under way. 

 

Toyo Gosei produces photosensitive materials for semi-conductors and liquid crystal displays, photopolymers and ionic liquid electrolytes.
