LONDON (ICIS news)--Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) converter Gualaclosures will close its plant in Milan, Italy, by the end of 2007 after a strategic review, a company source said on Thursday.

"We will be closing by the end of the year. Some of the machinery will be moved or sold. PET is no longer strategic for our organisation,” the source said.

While the 12,000 tonne/year preform plant will close, the company’s other PET plant at Madrid, Spain, will continue to operate.

With operations across, Europe, South America and Asia, the company’s core business centres around the production of non-refillable products for spirits, beverages and edible oil.
