TORONTO (ICIS news)--German energy firm E.ON will enter the UK government’s carbon capture and storage (CCS) competition with a plan to build two 800 megawatt (MW) CCS-ready coal-fired units at Kingsnorth in Kent, it said on Monday.
The company’s bid was supported by a number of partners, including Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and US petrochemicals and energy engineering firm Fluor, it said.
The de-carbonisation of fossil fuels – and especially coal - was at the core of the climate change debate, said Paul Golby, CEO of E.ON
