HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Traffic has stopped on Monday along the northern ports of the Houston Ship Channel due to fog, according to the US Coast Guard.

The channel is the major marine entry into Houston, the largest petrochemicals hub in the US.

Pilots had suspended boardings of tankers, bulk carriers and other deep-draft commercial vessels that were entering ports north of Galveston, Texas, and Texas City, the Coast Guard said. So far, three ships were waiting to enter port.

Pilots had not suspended boardings for the channel ports in Galveston and Texas City.
