NewsFlashCrude hits $116/bbl record as dollar fades

LONDON (ICIS news)--NYMEX light sweet crude futures gained more than $1/bbl on Friday to take the front-month May contract to a new record high above $116/bbl as the US dollar faded after some showing some strength earlier in the day.

 

By 15:15 GMT, May NYMEX crude had hit a high of $116.10/bbl, a gain of $1.24/bbl from the Thursday close of $114.86/bbl, before easing back to around $115.50/bbl.

 

At the same time, June Brent crude on ICE Futures was trading at around $113.00/bbl, having also hit a new record high of $113.57/bbl, a gain of $1.17/bbl from the previous close.
