SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Malaysian petrochemicals logistics and trading company Contiso is in talks to expand its operations into Japan, China and Thailand, the company's CEO said on Tuesday.

"We hope to conclude our talks with potential customers in these countries by early June to ship out chemicals and chlor-alkali products and expand our operations beyond the Malaysian market," said T Sivakumar on the sidelines of the Asia Petrochemical Industry Conference (APIC) in Singapore.

Contiso currently deploys its iso-tank capacity of 24,000-25,000 litres by truck to locations within Malaysia.

"We have been facing a cost challenge due to the rising cost of diesel on the back of surging crude prices," Sivakumar said.

The company is also looking to supply chemicals by truck to customers in Singapore.

"We have an advantage compared with other logistics operators, as we are also traders and enjoy a special relationship with chemicals suppliers," he said.

"This allows us easy access to the product."
