LONDON (ICIS news)--Axens has been awarded a design package for Saudi Aramco and Total’s proposed 400,000 bbl/day refinery and aromatics complex in Al-Jubail, Saudi Arabia, the plant technology company said on Tuesday.
Axens said it would design a 32,000 bpsd vacuum gas oil catalytic cracker with partners Shaw, IFP and Total.
The company would also design the aromatics complex in partnership with Uhde and ExxonMobil. The complex is expected to produce 700,000 tonnes/year of paraxylene and 143,000 tonnes/year of benzene.
Announced by Saudi Aramco and Total on 15 May, the project was expected to come on stream by the end of 2012.
