BAHRAIN (ICIS news)--Saudi Arabian producer Tasnee Petrochemicals may participate in the Jizan integrated refinery and petrochemical project at Saudi Arabia, said a senior company executive on Monday.

“We are looking at it; the opportunity is still in the planning stage,” said Moayyed Al-Qurtas, vice chairman and chief executive of Tasnee, at the Middle East Petrochemicals 2008 conference.

The Jizan refinery has been planned as Saudi Arabia’s first private-sector refinery, with a capacity of 250,000-400,000 bbl/day.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Petroleum expects detailed proposals from qualified companies to be submitted in early 2008 and the license to be awarded at the end of 2008.

The Middle East Petrochemicals 2008 conference concludes on Tuesday.
