SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Singapore-based Pure Power Global will expand its research and development activities into the field of lignocellulosics to deliver renewable biofuels and bioproducts by setting up a "Brains Trust", the company said on Wednesday.

"We are firmly committing our R&D efforts to lignocellulosic technology and driving its development to deliver a portfolio of renewable biofuels and bioproducts, all derived from sustainably produced feedstocks," the company said.

To enable bio-refineries to convert lignocellulosic feedstocks and other biomass into bioproducts such as bioethanol, biodiesel, biocrude, bioplastics and biochemicals, the company would focus on commercial applications for its unique set of processes, the it added.

Pure Power decided to enter the lignocellulosics field after it acquired New Zealand based BioJoule, in December 2007 for $5.5m.
