BDP logistics buys Indonesia JV majority stake

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US-based global chemical logistics firm BDP International has acquired a majority stake in its Indonesian joint venture (JV), the company said on Tuesday.

The acquisition complements the firm's global network of logistics and transportation operations and will further strengthen access to Asia's third-largest market, which has a population of more than 220m, said Peter Barnesby, BDP’s regional director.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Formed in 2001, BDP Indonesia is headquartered in Jakarta and serves major cities in the country's 17,500 islands. The acquired company is less than two miles from Indonesia's busiest international port, Tanjung Priok.

The company has branch offices in Surabaya, Semarang, Belawan, and

Batam Island, with a new branch in Balikpapan, Kalimantan, opening in July.

It provides logistics and transport services for traditional cargo, with customs brokerage performed in-house by government-licensed team members.

The venture serves customers such as Dow Chemical , Rohm & Haas, Cognis, Hercules, Air Products, DuPont and Givaudan, among others, the company saidp. BDP

Indonesia is also the company's first office to receive vendor endorsement from Halliburton.
