SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--China's Daqing Oilfield Chemical Group restarted its 200,000 tonne/year acetic acid unit over the weekend following scheduled maintenance but is operating it at a reduced rate due to shortage of steam supply, a company source said on Monday.

“The operating rate is very low and we could produce around 100 tonnes per day,” the source said, adding the output was supplied to northeastern market.

Meanwhile, acetic acid prices were currently assessed at yuan (CNY) 6,600-6,950/tonne ($962-1,013/tonne) ex-tank east China, falling CNY200-300/tonne from last week amid weak demand.

Daqing, is one of the major acetic acid producers in China, and located in Heilongjiang province.
