SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) is planning to build a petrochemical complex in Cangzhou city in northeastern Hebei province in late 2008, said a company official on Monday.
Local media reports said that CNOOC with the local Zhongjie Group will invest yuan (CNY) 17bn ($2bn) on the ?xml:namespace>
But the official could not confirm the investment capital and the capacity of the complex.
“The data in the media report was not the same with the one I have, I really don’t know where the figures come from…” the official told ICIS news.
“Maybe we will announce some details on our website when the project has been confirmed because it’s a long-term plan for us,” he added.
Zhongjie Group was acquired by CNOOC in the second half of 2007 when the plan to build the complex was first signed.
