HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Specialty chemicals producer Albemarle won a three-year contract to supply catalysts to Neste Oil Oyj for its renewable diesel production, Albemarle said on Wednesday.
Albemarle said it will be Neste’s exclusive supplier for the catalyst until 2010. Neither company disclosed how much the deal was worth.
Neste Oil currently runs a 170,000 tonne/year renewable diesel plant in Porvoo, Finland, where it plans to have a second facility of the same size come online next year.
The Finnish company is also building 800,000 tonnes/year plants in Singapore and Rotterdam for completion in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
Neste said its renewable diesel is more efficient and has a lower environmental effect than diesel made from petroleum or fatty acids.
