SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--China's Cangzhou Dahua has postponed the turnaround of its 30,000 tonne/year toluene di-isocyanate (TDI) plant to 10 September, a company source said on Wednesday.
It had delayed the shutdown as its cargo delivery to some markets in east China had not been affected by the logistics curbs imposed due to the Beijing Olympics, the source added.
The plant was initially scheduled to shut down in August.
"We’re not delivering cargoes to areas around Beijing as the logistics restrictions have the biggest impact on those regions," the source said in Mandarin, adding that the turnaround was likely to last for around 20 days.
As part of the government’s efforts to provide a safe and clean environment for the Olympics, the transportation of hazardous chemicals, including TDI, would be restricted in many parts of China, particularly in and around the capital, local traders said.
Other TDI producers in China are Gansu Yinguang and Shanghai BASF Polyurethane.
TDI is a raw material used in producing polyurethane foams for various application sectors, including furniture and automotive.
