SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--An explosion took place in the ammonium nitrate workshop of China-based Liuzhou Chemical Industry Group late Monday, causing one fatality and four injuries, an official from Guangxi Work Safety Bureau said on Wednesday.
“The company told us the tail gas absorber of nitric acid caused the blast, but the exact cause of the incident is still under investigation,” the source said.
The casualties were given immediate medical attention following the blast.
Three of them have been discharged to date, with only one still under medical treatment, the source said adding the blast did not impact the local air quality.
