LONDON (ICIS news)--DSM Engineering Plastics has reached an agreement to buy the polymerisation assets of Diolen Industrial Fibres, the Dutch company said on Wednesday.
The assets would include the Dutch company’s polyester polymer production facilities in ?xml:namespace>
No financial details were disclosed.
Fredric Petit, business manager of DSM Engineering Plastics, said this acquisition would give DSM backward integration into polyester polymer production for its engineering plastic product lines Arnitel thermoplastic copolyester (TPC), Arnite polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and Arnite polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
"This acquisition allows us to maintain our supply of high quality products and services and retain our position as a sustainable partner within the performance materials industry,” he added.
As part of the acquisition, DSM would offer employment to 45 Diolen employees.
DSM Engineering Plastics is part of the Performance Materials cluster of the Dutch chemicals firm. It generated sales of €839m ($1.24bn) in 2007 and has approximately 1,550 employees worldwide.
