The company said that the process licensor for this integrated unit would be Shaw Group's Stone & Webster of the
MRPL did not specify the propylene capacity in the tender document. It had earlier stated that the expanded refinery would produce 300,000 tonnes/year of propylene.
The last date for submission of prequalification bid for engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) of these units is 7 October.
The company has also asked prospective bidders to submit EPCC bids for delayed coker (DCU)-cum-DCU LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) treating unit and a coker gasoil hydrotreating unit (CHTU) on the same date.
The three units form part of the phase 3 expansion of the company’s refinery at Mangalore in Karnataka. The project provides for expansion in refinery’s crude processing capacity to 15m tonnes/year from 9.69m tonnes/year.
The olefins complex would comprise a naphtha cracker with capacity to process 2.17m tonnes/year of feedstock to produce 1m tonnes/year of ethylene and 750,000 tonnes/year of propylene.
