PRAGUE (ICIS news)--Czech agrochemicals group Agrofert said on Wednesday a planned project run by its Preol subsidiary will not only comprise a biodiesel production unit but will include a complex rapeseed processing centre.

Preol aimed to process around 400,000 tonnes/year of rapeseed, with 100,000 tonnes/year being converted into rapeseed oil methyl ester (ROME) for biodiesel production and 65,000 tonnes/year processed into ROME for sale, said spokeswoman Jitka Adamcikova.

“All at once, the plant will be able to process different kinds of raw oils and blend different kinds of methyl esters as well,” she added.

Production at the site in Lovosice, Czech Republic, should start next spring, she added, with 70% of the bio-oil production for sale on the domestic market.

Agrofert had purchased three German companies - Handelsgesellschaft fur Agrarprodukte, Getreide GmbH Pirna and GEVA Agrarhande - to ensure a reliable supply of feedstock for Preol, Adamcikova said.

Preol signed the deal to build the Lovosice plant in September 2007.
