HOUSTON (ICIS news)--ExxonMobil said late on Thursday that its Beaumont chemical plant in Texas remained shut down due to water damage from Hurricane Ike  but parts of its refinery could restart next week.

A company spokesman said she could not give a restart date for the chemical complex but added, “detailed repair plans and a projected timeline to restart the chemical plant are under development”.

Benzene, cyclohexane, ethylene, paraxylene, polyethylene, propylene and toluene are among the chemicals produced at the complex.

ExxonMobil did not provide further details, but the company said that the restoration work at the 349,000 bbl/day Beaumont refinery was progressing and some units would come up in the next week.
