SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--South Korean producer Kumho P&B Chemicals has slashed production rates at its bis-phenol A (BPA) production facilities to between 50-70%, a company source said late on Thursday.
“We have reduced our operation rates to minimal,” the source said, citing demand weakness in key Chinese market.
The company has two operational BPA production lines with total capacity of around 300,000 tonnes/year at its Yeocheon petrochemical facility. Its 35,000 No 1 line was mothballed in April this year.
Other key Asian suppliers of BPA include Nan Ya Plastics, Mitsui Chemicals, LG Chemicals, and Mitsubishi Chemicals.
