HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Chevron Phillips Chemical on Friday began the restart process of its Port Arthur cyclohexane unit in Texas, which was shutdown after Hurricane Ike hit the US Gulf coast in mid-September.

The restart process is expected to be completed by 8 November, the company said in a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

Chevron Phillips has 415,000 tonnes/year of cyclohexane capacity in Port Arthur.

Cyclohexane is a feedstock primarily used in the manufacturing of nylon.
