PARIS (ICIS news)--The European Union (EU) will allow the import of a genetically modified (GM) type of cotton made by Bayer for a period of 10 years, the European Commission said on Wednesday.
The Commission gave the green light for the cotton, known as LLCotton25, to be used in food and animal feed, after EU member states failed to agree on whether it should be approved or banned in the bloc.
The crop will be grown outside the EU. To discuss issues facing the chemical industry go to ICIS connect
