Uzbekistan's Jan-Sept 2008 fertilizer output up

MOSCOW (ICIS news)--Uzbekistan’s fertilizer output in the first nine months of 2008 rose, according to a statement from Uzbekistan's statistical agency on Thursday.

In the January-September 2008 period, Uzbekistan produced 796,000 tonnes of mineral fertilizers, an increase of 5.3% compared with the previous year.

The country’s ammonia output was 948,000 tonnes, up 5.2% year on year, said the statement.

However, Uzbekistan's production of sulphur acid decreased 7.1% to 674,000 tonnes, the statement said.
