HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US exports of ethyl acetate (etac) were flat in October from a year ago at 4,541 tonnes, according to data the US International Trade Commission (ITC) released on Thursday.

But October etac exports sank more than 21% from 5,776 tonnes in September, the ITC said. Belgium, Mexico and Spain were the top three export destinations, accounting for 3,629 tonnes, or almost 80% of total shipments.

US etac exports increased by solid double-digits in the first 10 months, totalling 55,882 tonnes, up 28% from 43,743 tonnes in the same period of 2007.

US Gulf coast export prices have ranged from 58-69 cents/lb ($1,279-1,521/tonne or €985-1,171/tonne) during the past month, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.

Major US etac producers include Celanese, Eastman and Solutia, whose material is marketed by BP.
