HOUSTON (ICIS news)--DuPont restarted its La Porte vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) unit in Texas on Thursday, according to a state regulatory filing.

The start-up followed a shutdown for inventory control in early December, the company said in a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

The plant's VAM capacity is 335,000 tonnes/year, according to ICIS plants and projects.

DuPont spokesman Nate Pepper declined to comment, citing company policy not to discuss such operations.

All of US VAM production is located at five plants south of Houston.

Millennium Petrochemicals operates a VAM plant in LaPorte; Dow Chemical has a unit in Texas City; and Celanese operates plants in Clear Lake and Bay City.
