Equistar eliminates 75 jobs at Beaumont PD Glycol plant

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--LyondellBasell's subsidiary chemical company Equistar said on Thursday that it is eliminating 75 workers at its PD Glycol plant in Beaumont, Texas.

The PD Glycol unit is a joint venture between Equistar and DuPont and has been offline since Hurricane Ike hit the US Gulf coast in September 2008.

Since the storm , employees have worked to keep the site from deteriorating further, the company said.

No decision has been made on the plant's future.

Equistar said in a statement that it will keep a smaller group of employees to continue with remediation activity.
