HOUSTON (ICIS news)--The merged Dow Chemical and Rohm and Haas will lay off 3,500 additional employees, Dow CEO Andrew Liveris said on Monday.
Most of the positions will come from Rohm and Haas, he said. They are in addition to divestitures and individual cost-cutting programmes announced by the two companies.
The layoffs come as Dow and Rohm and Haas remove redundancies and overlaps that the merger will create.
The two companies also plan to centralise business services and combine overlapping offices, Liveris said.
The merger will also result in 10-15 plant closings and the consolidation of six research-and-development centres, Liveris said. For more on Dow or Rohm and Haas visit ICIS company intelligence
