HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Dow Chemical has increased its capacity by 20% at its SHAC polypropylene (PP) catalyst plant in Norco, Louisiana due to increased demand, the US major said on Tuesday.

The SHAC catalysts are are the preferred catalyst technology for facilities that license the company’s UNIPOL PP process technology, Dow said.

“We are expanding in response to increased market demand for our catalyst systems – including both SHAC catalyst and our new family of Advanced Donor Technology (ADT),” said Cherie Holliman Wrenn, Dow product marketing manager.

“Our growth is being driven by the success of our newly introduced family of ADT donors, in addition to the anticipated demand of five new licensees that will start up in China over the next three years.”

The catalysts improve margins for PP producers by making production more efficient, Dow said.
