CEPEA assessed hydrous ethanol at Brazilian reais (R) 0.6882/litre ($1.39/gal) last week, down by 4.0% from R0.7166/litre in the week ended 17 July.
Anhydrous ethanol was assessed at R0.7941/litre, down by 2.1% from R0.8110/litre a week earlier.
Despite the drop, CEPEA said market trends started to shift higher towards the end of last week, particularly for hydrous ethanol, as several producers exited the spot market.
One market participant said ethanol supply began to tighten after midweek due to inclement weather in the key centre-south region.
CEPEA’s price assessments are ex-tank and do not include taxes.
($1 = R1.88)
