Lyondell may exit bankruptcy in January instead of December

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Lyondell Chemical is exploring the possibility of emerging from bankruptcy protection by 31 January, a month later than its earlier target in December, a spokesman said on Monday.

Lyondell is considering the later date since the 31 December target falls at the end of the year and at the end of the holiday season, said David Harpole, spokesman. Such timing would complicate the company's emergence.

The company is still on track to file its reorganisation plan by 15 September, Harpole said.
