SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Borouge has delayed the restart of its 300,000 tonne/year linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) line at Ruwais, Abu Dhabi, to 19 October for unspecified reasons, industry sources said on Friday.
“The line was shut down in late September due to a shortage of butene,” one of the sources said. The line was earlier expected to restart on 10 October.
The extended outage would not have much effect on LLDPE supply in the
Borouge’s high density PE (HDPE) line of the same capacity at Ruwais was running normally, a second source added.
Company officials were not available for comment.
Borouge is a 40:60 joint venture between Borealis and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Co (Adnoc).
