HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Petroleum product producer LyondellBasell said on Monday that a crude distillation unit (CDU) that has been down since last week at its 268,000 bbl/day Houston refinery will be restarted by the end of the week.
According to company spokesman David Harpole, one of the refinery’s two CDUs was shut down on 16 December due to a leak in an overhead line.
“The refinery has been running at half-rates while the CDU was out,” Harpole said. “We expect to have the unit returning to service by the end of the week.”
Market sources said the normal length of time for a unit restart and return to production is two to three days.
