Also in the first paragraph please read ...Al-Waha Petrochemical Company... instead of ...Saudi Polyolefins Company (SPC).... A corrected story follows.

LONDON (ICIS news)--Saudi Arabian polypropylene (PP) producer Al-Waha Petrochemical Company has closed its Al-Jubail facility in Saudi Arabia following a technical issue, sources close to production said on Wednesday.

The 450,000 tonne/year PP plant, the largest in the area, was taken off line on Monday 1 February, according to numerous sources close to the company.

Several added that production was currently under restart and the site was expected back online within three or four days.

One source said that the company had ample inventory to meet customer commitments for February and that the effect of the outage on the market would be nominal.

The closure comes just weeks after the plant was successfully restarted following a planned maintenance shutdown around the New Year, sources said.
