SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Thai MMA had to shut its 90,000 tonne/year methyl methacrylate (MMA) plant in Mab Ta Phut on Wednesday due to a power outage in the area, said a company source on Thursday.

"We have had to shut down the plant since yesterday. The power might resume today and then our plant could restart either today or tomorrow," he added.

MMA supply in Asia had been tight in recent weeks and this outage could worsen the situation, the source said.

Thai MMA is a joint venture between Mitsubishi Rayon Co (MRC) of Japan and Siam Cement Group (SCG) of Thailand.
