SAN FRANCISCO (ICIS news)--Informex will hold its first Latin American tradeshow on 23-24 August at the Amcham Convention Center in Sao Paulo in response to the region’s rapid growth, the tradeshow organiser said on Friday.

"Latin America is experiencing its longest period of sustained growth in more than a generation," according to a statement by Jennifer Jessup, Informex brand director.

Industrial and specialty chemicals continue to expand in the region despite the global downturn, Jessup said.

Sustainability will be among the main topics in the conference’s agenda, given Brazil’s role in ethanol, Informex said.

The show should attract more than 1,500 participants in the chemical industry, including exhibitors and attendees, Informex said.

As with InformexUSA, the Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA) will play a key role in the event.

So far, participating companies include Petrobras, Braskem, Pochteca, Sasil, Makeni, Kemira and D’Altomare Quimica.

Trade organisations participating in the show include Associquim, Abiquim (Brazilian Chemical Industry Association), ABPOL (Brazilian Polymers Association), CIB (Biotechnology Information Council), Abifina (Brazilian Fine Chemicals Industry Association), ABQ (Brazilian Chemical Association) and Sindag (National Agricultural Protection Products Trade Group).
